I noticed something about the Vanilla and Chocolate endings. In the Vanilla ending, Mark seems very focused on the date, rather than the fact that the player might be traumatized from killing someone. Meanwhile, in the Chocolate ending, Dark is comforting the player after what happened. I figured that this might support your headcannon. ;)
